Community Involvement and Experience

My legal career began in 2010 when I interned with the Douglas County Superior Court. After graduating early from law school, I built a law firm with my father and practiced for about 12 years before becoming a judge. The firm was primarily a personal injury and criminal defense firm where I represented clients with legal excellence, high integrity, and a strong focus on providing both legal and life advice. I represented members of this community in both civil lawsuits and complex criminal matters including attempted murder. As your Chief Magistrate, I've handled more than 40 bench trials, closed more than 3,600 cases, and reduced the backlog of cases by more than 600 in the first quarter alone. By revitalizing the office, the Magistrate Court has become efficient, approachable, and predictable.

Because of my commitment to superior legal acumen, I gained the support of local leaders like Sheriff Pounds, members of the county commission, members of the city council, and even our Solicitor-General Sonya Compton. Additionally, coupling my professional life with service was a hallmark of my career as an attorney and now Chief Magistrate.

I believe service to the community is not just a privilege, it is a responsibility. Since 2007, I have prioritized community service. In my professional life, I always coupled my work with a service-minded approach. Thus, I built a reputation of having high character, being fair-minded, and always keeping the needs of the community at the forefront. I remain committed to the values that strengthen our community and protect the rights of every citizen.
